Here is how HOPE IS A STRATEGY
While flying across Countries yesterday, I was meditating on the statement "Hope is a strategy".
Not the kind of naive optimism that denies reality nor the plastic smile slapped over bleeding hearts. But the kind of hope that digs its heels into the ground, lifts its head, and says, “I will not be defined by this darkness.”
Hope isn’t weak. It’s not fluffy. It’s not denial. Hope is warfare.
When life unravels, when marriages collapse, when your empty bank account is screaming louder than your dreams, when you’ve buried someone you love, hope is the only thing that keeps your soul alive.
Without hope, we don’t plan. Without hope, we don’t build. Without hope, we don’t heal. We self-destruct.
There are people who appear to be alive but have already given up. They wake, they work, they smile but hope has long left the room. You can tell. Their eyes are empty, their faith is dry, and they scoff at the sound of dreams. Not because they don’t want better but because they’ve forgotten how to hope.
Because the absence of hope leads to helplessness and helplessness is the quickest route to hopelessness, depression and suicidal ideation.
Every revolutionary moment in history started with someone who dared to hope even when nothing around them supported that decision. Hope is the reason people still give birth in broken economies. Hope is the reason cancer patients show up for another round of chemotherapy. Hope is why a business owner opens their shop again after three failed ventures.
Hope is why the betrayed try to love again. Hope is why the traumatized show up for therapy. So yes, hope is a strategy. It may not look like spreadsheets or KPIs. But it looks like life and if we lose it, we lose everything.
If you're tired, burned out, disappointed, or angry at how life has treated you, I understand. But please, don’t lose hope. Cry if you must. Scream if you need to. Take a break if it’s required.
But protect your hope like your future depends on it because it does. When everything else is uncertain, hope is still legal. Still free. Still powerful. And sometimes, the most strategic thing you can do is simply whisper to yourself, "This is not the end.”
